Our Program – Pre Surgical
You journey begins with a series of Pre Surgical consult assessments. These assessments take place both at the Omni Surgery Centre and the Allied Health Centre, which is located on the University of Regina campus.
Below are the steps that take place at the Omni Surgery Centre.
A free consult with the Program Coordinator where you will:
- Review pre surgical questionnaire
- Discuss primary program candidate requirements (non-medical)
- Discuss financing options
- Schedule a consult with surgeons if appropriate
Meet with our Surgeons:
- Review pre surgical questionnaire
- Discuss medical history
- Outline any further medical tests required
- An anesthetic consult may also requested
At the Allied Health Centre, you will:
Meet with a Registered Nutritionist:
- Review pre surgical questionnaire
- Discuss current dietary habits
- Be introduced to dietary changes required after the Lap-Band® procedure
- Discuss pre operative diet requirements
Meet with Exercise Professional in a group setting:
- Receive pedometer and log book
- Discuss fitness goals
- Discuss post Lap-Band® procedure exercise program
Meet with a Registered Psychologist:
- Review pre surgical questionnaire
- Discuss lifestyle commitment to succeed with Lap-Band® procedure
- Explore emotional changes that may occur with weightloss
