Our Program – Pre Surgical

You journey begins with a series of Pre Surgical consult assessments. These assessments take place both at the Omni Surgery Centre and the Allied Health Centre, which is located on the University of Regina campus.

Below are the steps that take place at the Omni Surgery Centre.

A free consult with the Program Coordinator where you will:

Review pre surgical questionnaire
Discuss primary program candidate requirements (non-medical)
Discuss financing options
Schedule a consult with surgeons if appropriate

Meet with our Surgeons:

Review pre surgical questionnaire
Discuss medical history
Outline any further medical tests required
An anesthetic consult may also requested

At the Allied Health Centre, you will:

Meet with a Registered Nutritionist:

Review pre surgical questionnaire
Discuss current dietary habits
Be introduced to dietary changes required after the Lap-Band® procedure
Discuss pre operative diet requirements

Meet with Exercise Professional in a group setting:

Receive pedometer and log book
Discuss fitness goals
Discuss post Lap-Band® procedure exercise program

Meet with a Registered Psychologist:

Review pre surgical questionnaire
Discuss lifestyle commitment to succeed with Lap-Band® procedure
Explore emotional changes that may occur with weightloss

Forward – Surgical

Surgical

Your surgery will take place at the Omni Surgery Centre.

Our surgeons possess advanced laparoscopic skills and training and have bariatric surgery experience. The Omni staff is professionally trained to ensure your surgical experience and recovery is safe, successful, and as comfortable as possible.

You will be provided a “Ready Checklist” to ensure you have what you need for your surgical day, and what to expect. In most cases you will leave the clinic the same day as you have your Lap-Band® surgery.

Our Program – Post Surgical

The Post Surgical phase is critical to your success with the Lap-Band® procedure.

In this phase you will:

Experience fills or adjustments of your Lap-Band® at the Omni Surgery Centre
Have access to the Omni Surgery Lap-Band® Patient’s Resource Area, a special Omni Patient Only area containing many useful resources to help you be successful on your journey
Be able to access nutritional and exercise professionals whom you met in the Pre Surgical phase
Take part in special Omni Patient events

Back - Surgical | Forward - For Life

For Life

The Omni Lap-Band® Program is designed to provide you access to support, for life. After completing the initial Post-Surgical phase you will have access to a support program designed to keep your weightloss journey on track.

At Omni we know this is a decision for life, and we are here to support your success long term.
